Karen Cheney comes to us from North Carolina. Childhood visits to the Pacific Northwest made a lasting impression. She returned to the area to complete her college education at the University of Puget Sound with a degree in English. Her love of the outdoors led her to join the Student Conservation Association to rehabilitate and improve wilderness quality in the White Mountain Wilderness areas where she focused on trail work and wilderness medicinal first aid. While working in your garden, she finds plant identification and weeding of particular interest. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, backpacking, reading and cooking.
